Pages 276-288 (2 Samuel 22 - 1 Kings 7)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you could have asked God for anything, what would have been your request? (1 Kings 3:5-15)
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son. "I am about to go the way of all the earth," he said. "So be strong, show yourself a man, and observe what the LORD your God requires: Walk in his ways, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and requirements, as written in the Law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go.... 1 Kings 2:1-3
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For those doing this with the weekly meetings and curriculum, you prayed a prayer of commitment to God during the first meeting. What, specifically, did you pray to God? How are you doing versus your commitment?
Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Reading the entire Bible has long been a goal of mine, and your enthusiasm, encouragement and inspiration are the reasons I was finally able to reach my goal."
Paula Schlesinger, graduate
Resources + Community
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Assess the level of accountability in your reading community. Is it:
1. JUST RIGHT: It ENCOURAGES people to keep up RATHER THAN DISCOURAGES them from coming to the meeting
2. TOO HARSH: Mainly, it keeps people from coming to class when a little behind
3. TOO LENIENT: No or little accountability.
If your assessment of your community is either 2 or 3, could you speak with the leader discretely to try to change this? Is the group close enough that it could be discussed in the group openly without getting the group off track?
