Trouble with Thyroid - Information you need

Ok I have had a few people inquire about the Thyroid problem I found out recently I had. Blah! I can not say much as I am still learning about it. But what I can say is GOOGLE the THYROID. Find out all you can about your thyroid. Believe it or not the Thyroid is more important then you or I ever thought. If left untreated it can be extremely dangerous.

When I found out my thyroid was the problem I had all along, I left it untreated for about a year not even knowing it. There were little things here and there that may be wonder but was not nothing major. It didnt become major until that last 3-4 months. I began experiencing Major Highs and Extremely low Lows. What do I mean by this:

I literally felt like the following:

*Crazy
*Angry to the extent that I would snap in a sec for anything on anyone
*Tired
*Exhausted
*No Concentration
*Hair loss
*Temporal Intolerence [I am always HOT] Your Thyroid is the thermometer for the body!

*Stupid - to the sense that I literally could not think or could I remember what I was talking about or thinking about

*I would hear one voice in multiples of 5-50 voices at a time. [one person could talk to me and it would turn in to 50 of that one person.]

*My eyes could not stay on one thing [I would stare at something and my eyes would literally jump back n forth side to side.]

*I needed complete Silence in a dark room/slightly lighted

Let me put it to you this way, Below are some of the common symptoms, These are NOT all of the symptoms for your thyroid. I noted some above that are not listed below. I had pretty much all of the noted above and most of the noted below

Common symptoms of problem with thyroid due to low thyroid or hypothyroidism are:

• Fatigue and weakness
• Low basal temperature ( cold intolerance)
• Dry and coarse skin
• Hair loss
• Cold hands and feet
• Weight gain
• Insomnia
• Constipation
• Depression
• Poor memory, forgetfulness, dementia
• Nervousness and tremors
• Immune system problems
• Heavy menstrual periods

If you have experienced any or all of these, Get in to your doctor to be tested and then schedule an appointment with a local Endocrinologist. These are specialists dealing with your thryoid.

A family doctor will not know much about the thyroid and you will become a guinea pig as for testing and medication mg. They will slowly take you on medication to see what works best for you and what wont. It is a process of guessing fun which if you are like me and your thyroid is as low as mine was and still is. You can not afford to play a guessing game with your medication.

I was doing well with the dose I started out on 50mg. Only complaint was I was wired when I needed to be sleeping. My family doctor told me to cut the pill in half and try that. I went from wired to exhausted physically and mentally all over again. I have 3 toddlers and a 12 year old I homeschool. I can not afford to be exhausted all the time. So I put myself back on the full pill until I can get in to the specialist.

Now KEEP in MIND. It takes up to 6 weeks for the medicine to get in to your system. You will not notice much of a change over the first two weeks taking medicine. But if you avoid all the foods with the Goitrogens in them and eat the foods that help they thyroid- You will notice a bit of a difference while you are taking your medicine.

Now what are GOITROGENS?
a substance (as thiourea or thiouracil) that induces goiterformation, any goiter-producing substance, as thiouracil. [SAY WHAT?] In English terms this means an IODINE blocker. The ingestion of foods known as goitrogens block iodine utilization or conversion of thyroid hormone or hormone receptors (it varies with the particular food and it's natural chemical content) and such foods should be avoided (or at least limited). Remember if you feel like you are having or experiencing the above noted symptoms then I urge you to get treated immediately. When I was tested I was extremely low. Apparently some doctors chart you as to how low you are or how high. I was so low that I was off the charts which can be extremely serious. My doctor said I should of been in the hospital. Well praise God he delivered me from a trip to the ER. Your thyroid is not a game to play around with. Good luck and God bless you!
