Ok so I have always wondered how the heck you do this and Renee had posted on this at her blog, She shared it with me so I am sharing also with you. I can not wait to get my pumpkins and get messy and FINALLY learn how to do this.
She gave me step by step instructions with pictures, but to respect her and her son since he is in the pics and for safety I will only post the step by step instructions.
She says this is easy, so I am gonna take her word and Go for it. Are we ready? Ok here we go!
Pumpkin Pies
1st cut top off pumpkin
2nd Cut in half and clean seeds out
3rd Put skin side up on cookie sheet cook 45 minutes UN COVERED
4th Cover with foil and cook another 45 minutes
Let cool and scrape out everything, throw skin awayI drained it because it has ALOT of water in it, just throw water down drain.
*Then Proceed to make pumpkin pie.
1 sugar pumpkin
1 pk of deep dish pie crust (Unless you make your own )
2 eggs
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon sale
2 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
Mix all in a bowl.
In a large bowl, slightly beat eggs. Add brown sugar, flour, salt, 2 cups of the pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and evaporated milk. Stir well after each addition.
Pour mixture into the unbaked pastry shell. Place a strip of aluminum foil around the edge of the crust to prevent over browning.
Bake 10 minutes at 450 degrees F (230 degrees C), then reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Bake an additional 40 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Remove the strip of foil about 20 minutes before the pie is done so that the edge of the crust will be a light golden brown. Cool pie, and refrigerate overnight for best flavor.
Waaa Laaa! I think will say this when I make mine and then we all can get a good laugh out of my mess. LOL!
Thanks friend for this step by step instruction. Now that I have an Idea of what to do I am ready to get my pumpkins and gut them.
O but dont waste the insides, COOK THE SEEDS. I love cooking the seeds and yummy!
Seed Cooking
Clean your seeds in strainer really good
set them on a paper towel to dry out some (not to much, maybe about 5 min)
throw them on baking sheet (well ok dont throw them :),
add some salt and then Bake them.
Bake in oven at 375F for 10 -15 mins
( You want them golden brown not burned so just keep eye on them. )
Pull them out let cool and eat away!
