Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience,

you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting to death,

Before God revealed Himself to Abram as the all sufficient God Almighty who could meet Abram's every need, there was an earlier encounter. Before Abram learned of an El Shaddai, he acknowledged God by a different name. And so shall we. The name first used in Genesis 15:1-2

 

"After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” But Abram said, “O Lord God [Adonai], what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”

 After experiencing a great victory against powerful enemies and enormous odds, and after coming to know God as El Elyon, God Most High and Sovereign of the universe, Abram acknowledged God's lordship over his own life. Over all that he had and was. Abram a man of firstand knowledge of the master-slave relationship, called Him, Adonai.    Lord...  Master...  Owner...

"Acknowledging Him as Lord has to be something more then mere words. Its a relationship!"

 

Can you or I really expect eternal life in heaven when we've never bowed before Him as Lord on earth?
