First I would like for you to think about these questions noted below:
~ How good is water really? [Did I know this?]
~ How much water intake do we drink a day? [Am I drinking enough water?]
~ How much of WHAT- do I drink daily? [Sodas, Coffee, etc... [?]
~ How much fruit/veggie intake do we eat daily? [Do we realize the more fresh fruit/veggies we eat the more water intake we have? ]
7 Pillars of Health is a Study by Dr. Don Colbert - WATER
We all know water is good for us right! Most of us heard mom and dad nag us growing up, "Be sure to drink lots of water." The real question is, Do we know how good? Get ready for alot of details you probably never knew. Even I had to pick my jaw back up off the floor. {o_O}
Our body can go days, even weeks with out food. [To be precise 5-7 weeks] Our body can not go weeks with out water. In fact we can only go 5 days with out water before our body starts to react. [dehydrating kicks in, malnourishment, halucination, skin becomes dry and wrinkled, get headaches, stomach aches, constipation, possible kidney failure, infrequent and painful urination]
Did you know that daily, our body loses 2 quarts of water through perspiration, urination and exhalation? When we are not drinking water to replace the water we lose, our body becomes dehydrated. To paint the picture and bring it more clearer - In states around the country during the summer weather, residents are only allowed to water their lawns- depending on conditions, mostly 3x's per week. This is called Rationing the water. In this case the lawns become dehydrated and discolored. Like in nature, our bodies do the same thing. When we are dehydrated our body begins rationing water.
When we are not drinking water -or- the amount our bodies need, our body begins dehydrating and rationing what water supply we have through out the body. [Water raioning begins with lack of water. Your body will send most water to the brain and spinal causing other parts of the body to have less mucus protection in turn we start suffering from heartburn/acid refulx, headache, joint pain, arthritis, and other forms of diseases you will see noted again below.] 90 -95% of high blood pressure [essential hypertension] is due to lack of water. Doctors can only tell you what they know which is about 5% of what causes the high blood pressure. The other 95% they have no other diagnosis other then lack of water.
Would you believe that many people water their plants more then they do their own bodies. Its true!
When our bodies are not getting enough water we begin to experience joint pain, muscle pain, headaches, joint popping, heart burn, back pain, memory loss and the longer we go with out water we are more likely to get diseases like heart disease, arthritis, acid reflux, Alzhiemers, Multiple Schlerosis, Parkinson's Disease, Lou Gehrigs disease and others. So its really important to drink water in this aspect, but what is the main reason, Why? Keep reading as there is so much information to give you and I am trying to cut it into 2-3 posts linked together.
Many consume more sodas, tea and coffee then they drink water. All of which have the common ingreidient known as caffiene along with another ingredient- sugar. Both of these ingredients are like a sponge and soak up most of our bodies water. The more we drink these drinks with caffiene and sugar the less water our bodies have. Through out the day or week we become really thirsty. This is a sign from our body telling us to drink more water. By this time our body has already started the rationing because we have not consumed enough water. You probably recognize times like this. There may be times we just sit and dont drink anything for awhile or we wait until this time when we are really thirsty before we finally get a drink of water. This is really really bad on our bodies. Why? Keep reading.....
What does water do for our body?
Water is the most important nutrient for our body. Its better then any supplemental vitamin and organic anything. Did you know that 5-6 quarts of our blood is made from water as it carries oxygen and nutrients to our cells, tissues and organs? Did you know that 12-18 quarts of the lymphatic fluids in our body need water. Why? The lymphatic fluids remove cellular waste and provides powerful immune system protection. Most of our immune sytem is in lymphatic fluid. [Lymphatics help to kill viruses and bacteria infections]
**Not only is water healthy for our body, its an energy booster, brain motivater - Helps with memory loss, and also helps us with wieght loss.**
Are you ready for this? WATER forms the mucus to lubricate, protect and hydrate our digestive and respiratory tracts. [this includes our esophagus, stomach, intestines all lined with mucus protection made from water] This mucus hydrates, lubricates and protects our GI Tract from hydrochloric acid. [Hydrochloric acid is so strong that it can dissolve a nail!] This mucus also forms a protected lining for our sinus and bronchial tubes. [with this lining it helps fight off the infections cause bronchitis, sinusitis, pneumonia] Water forms digestive juices [saliva] that enable us to digest our food. [lack of water can lead to digestive problems and digestive diseases] Over 100 million people alone in the U.S suffer from digestive problems. [Our son is one of them but getting better now that I know more water is what he needs and added fiber] Lack of water hurts the digestive system. [The result leads to medicine. With our son, we refused to put our son on medicine for the rest of his child hood or life. We wanted more answers and a better approach. Thank God for His word and the right doctors with a more natural approach to help our son.] Our body was not designed for medicines. [Don't always assume medicine is the last resort, keep looking for answers, 2, 3, 4th opinions from doctors. Don't stop until you get the answers you need! I am not 100% sold on medicines and I honestly will not resort to them unless I absolutely have to. For our son, in the beginning he never had any problems, then when he did this new doctor we had, she would always extend her diagnosis for another visit to make us come back then she would hammer us with meds that we just didnt and dont need. Our son, by the time all was said and done, had as much medicine as an ederly man or woman does today if not more. He had more medicine then anyone in our house. We finally couldnt take it and started for another approach for minor problems he had that a doctor wanted to make worse!]
Water is good for those suffering from memory loss. It also forms the spinal fluid that cushions and protects our brain and spinal chord. Water forms the fluid that surrounds our eyes helping our eyes to move freely. [eeeww, did not know this] Our muscles are mainly water. Water also composes approximately 85% of our brain cells. [70% of our body is made up of water, 75% of our muscles are made from water, 85% brain cells are made from water, 82 % of our blood is made from water, 25% of our bones are made from water] Water constantly keeps the brain active. [The brain is the only organ that never gets a break. The heart gets to take a few seconds break between each beat.]
